Job brief 

We are looking for a PT Tax Accountant to compile and prepare tax returns for our clients.

To succeed in this role, you should show interest in following changes to tax regulations and laws. Excellent time management and initiative skills are also essential, as you will have to ensure our company meets tight deadlines.

 

Tax Accountant responsibilities also include organizing and maintaining records of tax payments. Ultimately, you should be able to recommend tax efficiency strategies that comply with laws and promote our company and client’s financial well-being.

 

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have substantial exposure to FRS 102 and FRS105 in regards to compliance (filing) of corporation tax and final accounts to HMRC and Companies house, full workable understanding and experience. You will be organized and approach each issue with an analytical mindset.

  • Honesty & Trustworthy

  • Some bookkeeping activity including bank reconciliations

  • Reconciliation of bank statements and control accounts

  • Prepare final accounts for SME's under FRS legislation

  • Prepare tax returns (primarily CT600)

  • Estimate and track tax returns (projections)

  • Review and forecast clients tax obligation

  • Organize and update the company’s tax database

  • Recommend tax strategies

  • Prepare necessary paperwork for tax returns

  • Share financial and tax data within departments (where appropriate)

  • Identify tax savings and suggest ways to increase profits*

  • Follow industry trends and track changes related to taxes

  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders (where appropriate)

  • Forecast tax predictions to senior managers

 

Requirements

  • 2+ years’ work-related experience as a Tax Accountant, Accountant or Tax Preparer

  • Knowledge of FRS 102 and FRS 105

  • Knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures

  • Familiarity with accounting software packages Xero, Sage Cloud, Quickbooks

  • Computer literacy (MS Excel in particular)

  • Excellent analytical and time management skills

  • Strong numeracy skills

  • Keen attention to detail

  • CIMA, ACCA, AAT level 4+ (or equivalent)
